Hydrogen
The first element on the Periodic Table of Elements is Hydrogen.
What is Hydrogen?
*Hydrogen is considered a non-metal. It is usually found as a gas.
*Hydrogen's atomic makeup consists of one proton and one electron. This makes hydrogen light in weight. It is lighter than air.
*Hydrogen is one of the most abundant elements in the universe. Some of the common compounds that it is in are:
H₂O: Water. This contains two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
NH₄: Ammonia. Contains one nitrogen atom and four hydrogen atoms.
CH₄: Methane. Contains one carbon atom and four hydrogen atoms.

Where is Hydrogen on the Table?
It is the red box in the top left corner. It has Hydrogen's symbol on it.
